Im using CentOS and have a few HD's in my Linux box that are NTFS and theres stuff I would like to take off of them and/or keep them as a share for my network.

I've read, read & read tons of guides and tutorials but with no luck. Should I switch distro's? or does anybody reccomend anything else?

Thanks!

the easiest way to get access to them on your network is to put them in a windows box and smb share them (windows share)

as for reading ntfs in linux, it's become pretty standard lately. i know the 2.6 kernels have alot more support than some of the old ones. can't remember exactly how much.

i don't know much about centOS, but it looks like with their goal of backwards compatibility, they might sacrifice some of the newer kernel features. so you might have to try something else in the meantime to get access.

some more info @wiki, NTFS-3G, and ntfsmount.

it looks like your best bet might be NTFS-3G, a user-space ntfs driver that i think has some relation to ntfsmount

i'd sugest running windows... i've heard they've had native NTFS support since NT 3 or something... that's gotta be at least 14 years now...
